Alberta has mandated that its entire fleet of coal-fired power plants, which currently supply over half of the province's needs, shut down inside of 14 years. And it wants half of the new power generation that replaces coal, 30 per cent of power generation overall, to be renewable, suggesting a building boom on the horizon.
