Lower Austria, the largest of Austria's nine states, announced at the beginning of November that 100 per cent of its electricity is now being generated from renewable energy. The state's rather fortunate location along the Danube River has helped make the shift easier, and almost two-thirds of Lower Austria's energy is now hydroelectric.
