Shipping oil by rail has provided some relief to the market-access woes of the oil industry. Unfortunately, it may also be adding to the problems faced by other railway customers. Last year was a record one for the coun-try'sfarming community. Total field crop production forthe year reached 77 million tonnes, and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) estimates this year's crop will come in at 97 million tonnes. Between improved crop genetics and farming practices, these bountiful crops are likely the new normal, according to the Grain Growers of Canada.
