In a conversation during a coffee break at the Colombia Oil & Gas Investment Conference, October 17-19, in Cartagena, Colombia, a British expat asks me why Canadian companies have such a big presence in Colombia. "You've got Gran Tierra down here [we were queued at Gran Tierra's coffee kiosk], Pacific Rubiales, Petrominerales Ltd., Canacol, Talisman, Nexen..." he says. "Canada's got a bigger presence than the U.S. here."
