THE CANADIAN INDUSTRY'S FORTUNES in 2013 cannot be divorced from the commodity price trends for crude oil and natural gas. The value gap between natural gas and oil has driven huge shifts in capital spending in the last few years to the point where forecasters predict nearly 90 per cent of the wells drilled in Canada in 2013 will target crude oil.
