Fuels for life

Transportation is a vital component of our economy. The mobility of people and goods underpins our quality of life. Today, Canada's transportation system is dominated by petroleum fuels. They account for nearly 30 per cent of Canada's total energy consumption, and they satisfy 95 per cent of Canada's transportation fuel demand. On a daily basis, Canadians pump some 200 million litres into their cars and trucks—75 billion litres a year.
