摘要

For heavy oil operators challenged with optimizing their heat transfer systems, "fouling" is a dreaded word. The fouling caused by the buildup of bitumen and other organic deposits on the internals of heat exchanger systems makes heat transfer less efficient-driving up maintenance and cleaning costs by $100K's per year per unit. Higher energy consumption to achieve the desired degree of heat transfer also comes with an environmental impact in the form of higher CO2 emissions.
