BP Settles Federal Suit, Faces State Suit for 2006 Spills

Although BP remains largely focused on the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, some past incidents continue to demand attention. BP Exploration (Alaska) Inc. (BPXA) lawyers have been working with federal regulators on settling a civil lawsuit in connection with the 2006 oil spills in the Prudhoe Bay (Alaska, USA) oil field (see OSIR, 9 March 2006, 16 March 2006, 30 March 2006, and 10 August 2006). Settlement paperwork was recently filed in the US District Court in Anchorage, Alaska.
