Tugs Collide in Tampa Bay

The US Coast Guard (USCG) Sector St. Petersburg (Florida) is continuing to monitor the cleanup of a 1 April 2009 waste oil spill in Tampa Bay. The spill occurred when the 210-foot barge Crystal River struck the Liberty, a tug moored at a dock in Tampa. On the surface, this appears to be a simple scenario, but the spill events have all the makings of an April Fool's Day prank gone awry.
