Weekly average prices of the OPEC basket continued its rise in April 2011, to touch $120/b level, hitting a record high of $119.8/b in the last week of the month, as shown in figure (1): Monthly OPEC Reference Basket was up by $8.3/b or 7.6% from the previous month to average $118.1/b in April 2011, representing an increase of $35.8/bbl or 43.5% over the same period of previous year.
