All reinforced rubber products, automobile tyres, V-belts, Conveyors belts, transmission belts, etc. need to have good adhesion between the rubber and the reinforcing material. Dry Bonding Chemicals, the two-component system comprising methylene acceptors and methylene donors, are extensively used during rubber compounding that react and provide strong bonding during the vulcanization process. Modified Resorcinol Formaldehyde resins are the latest in technology and provide enhanced performance with the benefits of low hygroscopic nature and low volatility at rubber compounding temperatures. This paper will present Aralkylated and Alkylated Resorcinol Formaldehyde resins and their benefits over conventional methylene acceptors.
