US Northeast power dailies vary but remain strong ahead of winter storm

US Northeastern day-ahead power prices stayed relatively elevated as strong winter system was forecast to move into the region on Jan. 6. US National Weather Service issued winter storm watches for parts of New England and New York on Jan. 6-7 with strong chances of snow, rain and gusty winds. Power outages could be expected due to the stormy weather conditions. Meanwhile, Boston and New York City Jan. 6-8 high temperatures were forecast to rise slightly from Jan. 5, applying some downward pressure on prices.
