ROSOBORONEXPORT DISCUSSING SALE OF 25 PERCENT OF AVTOVAZ WITH STEEL MAKERS

Rosoboronexport, the state-owned arms trader which controls Avtovaz, Russia's biggest car producer, is discussing the sale of 25 percent of Avtovaz with steel producers, Rosoboronexport chief Sergei Chemezov told the Nezavisimaya Gazeta newspaper in an interview published on November 26. Chemezov said at the end of September that he was discussing the sale of a "small stake" in Avtovaz with Alexei Mordashov of Severstal and Alisher Us-manov of Metalloinvest. But now a larger block of shares is under discussion. "We plan to bring steel producers in as shareholders in order to reduce the cost of quality materials. The block of shares that is now being offered to the Russian steel makers is 25 percent," Chemezov said.
