(Interfax) - Polyus Gold plans to invest 2 billion rubles in the Irkutsk region's gold industry in 2006, Yury Loshakov, director of the No. 1 Russian gold producer's Lenskaya Gold Mining subsidiary, said at an April 7 conference in Irkutsk. Loshakov said Polyus invested 2.2 billion rubles in the region in 2005. He said 2006's money would go into the development of gold mines, new fields and the construction of gold recovery plants.
