ZANGEZUR COPPER-MOLYBDENUM PLANT BOOSTS ORE OUTPUT 50 PERCENT BY 2008

Russia's NPO RIVS plans to complete the first phase of modernization at Armenia's Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Plant by the end of 2007, enabling it to increase annual ore output by more than 50 percent to 14 million tonnes from the current 9 million tonnes. RIVS executive director Mikhail Arustamian said on October 5 that the plant is already increasing capacity thanks to updates. In ten years, modernization should boost Zangezur's capacity to 20 million-25 million tonnes per year, he said.
