Vladimir Tsivin has an international reputation. His sculptures adorn galleries and private collections all over the globe. More unusually for a ceramicist he travels thousands of miles each year in his search for artistic inspiration. Many of his works have been completed on foreign shores. He was born in Leningrad in 1949 and studied glass and pottery at the city's Mukhina Academy. Within a few years he had established a reputation; by the early 80s he was winning competitions. He became a Russian Academy Arts prize winner in 1999. Since then he has travelled. Widely. Why?
