Su Washington and I first met in 1994. She was living in a Georgian house in Upper Norwood, then a collection of flats occupied by young artists, which had been in the Washington family since the early 1900s. At the time I was using the house as a location for a student film. In 1997 her husband, RJ 'Bob' Washington, had died from cancer. Su and I kept in touch and in 2013 I heard from her, asking for help to restore a VHS interview of Bob, in which he talks about his life and work. He was an articulate spokesperson for ceramics.
