Solikamsk Magnesium Plant (SMZ) has commissioned the first 2,500 tpa stage of a titanium sponge plant and is shipping trial consignments of sponge to consumers in Russia and abroad. "We are currently capable of producing about 100 tonnes per month. We are running the technology in and shipping trial consignments to consumers in Russia, Ukraine, Western Europe and the United States," Dmitry Melnikov, the company's chief engineer, told Interfax on September 7.
