Novolipetsk Steel boosted net profit to Russian accounting standards 36.2 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2006 to 15.05 billion rubles, the Russian steel major said in a May 3 statement. Revenue fell 16.4 percent to 27.93 billion rubles, gross profit fell 26 percent to 11.74 billion rubles and operating profit fell 30.4 percent to 10.44 billion rubles.
