KAZAKH RESOURCE SECTOR TO INVEST NEARLY 2 BILLION DOLLARS IN ENVIRONMENT BY 2011

The Minister of Environment Protection, Nurlan Iskakov, hopes that investors working in the resource sectors will spend no less than 2 billion tenge on the environment protection within the next two years. "The Ministry will be taking steps to prevent investors from curtailing their projected environmental spending. Due to those efforts, resource developing companies will invest 2 billion dollars in the economy within the environmental procedures, with a share of the local content accounting for 85 percent," he told his Ministry late last week in Astana.
