RUSSIAN COAL'S ROSTOVSKAYA MINE BOOSTS OUTPUT 23 PERCENT IN JAN-APRIL

The Rostovskaya mine, a unit of the Almaznaya Coal Co., increased coal production by 23 percent year-on-year to 193,000 tonnes in the first four months of 2006, Russian Coal Management Co., which owns Almaznaya, said on May 11. This was 24.5 percent more than planned, Russian Coal said. The mine is working the No. 0203 face it launched in September 2005, outfitted with special machinery for small seams that enables Rostovskaya to produce 1,700-1,800 tonnes of coal per day, 400-500 tonnes more than the norm.
