Ecological state of grasses used for grassing cities when grown on lead-polluted soil

In a model experiment including variants of lead-polluted soils and soil mixtures differing in composition of the upper layer, their effect on the ecological state of grasses used for lawns was evaluated. The problem of pollution of the urban environment by heavy metals is urgent for all Russian cities. Earlier investigations established that as a result of entry of technogenic emissions from stationary sources and operation of motor vehicles, the soils of Ryazan are to a considerable degree saturated with heavy metals, among which, as everywhere, lead dominates.
