IMPERIAL ENERGY, METROPOL BIDDING FOR TOMSK REGION IRON DEPOSIT

TOMSK. (Interfax) - Britain's Imperial Energy Corporation Plc and Russian financial-industrial group Metropol will bid in the tender for the Tomsk region's 51 percent stake in TomGDK Ruda, the company developing the Polynyansky section of the Bakcharskoye iron ore field. The tender is to be held in the first quarter of 2007, the region's deputy governor in charge of the fuel and energy sector, Vladimir Yemeshev, said at a January 23 press conference. He said Imperial Energy officials reviewed at the documentation for the Bakcharskoye field in December. At talks with Governor Viktor Kress, a preliminary agreement was reached to acquire the region's controlling stake in TomGDK Ruda and complete exploration of the property.
