AMURMETALL BOOSTS STEEL OUTPUT 20 PERCENT IN 2008

The Amurmetall steel works from the Khabarovsk territory boosted crude steel production 19.8 percent in 2008 to 1.09 million tonnes, the company said. Amurmetall smelted around 900,000 tonnes in 2007, up 12 percent from 2006. Production of semis rose 20.3 percent to 1.062 million tonnes. Roll production grew 26 percent to 498,678 tonnes, including growth of 0.3 percent to 144,975 tonnes of flat products and 40.8 percent to 353,703 tonnes of long products.
