FERREXPO SLASHES IRON ORE PRODUCTION 20.6 percent IN JAN

Ferrexpo Plc, whose main asset is Ukrainian iron ore producer Poltava Mining (PGOK), reduced crude iron ore production 20.6 percent year-on-year in January to 1.883 million tonnes, the company said on February 3. Iron ore concentrate production fell 26.6 percent year-on-year to 653,000 tonnes. Compared with December 2008, iron ore pellet production fell 31.4 percent, to 510,300 tonnes, including 270,200 tonnes of pellets with Fe-content of 62 percent (down 34.4 percent) and 240,100 tonnes of pellets with Fe 65 percent (down 27.7 percent).
