Evraz Group cut crude steel production 29.3 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2009 to 3.39 million tonnes, the company said in a statement. Steel production was 4.3 percent higher than in the fourth quarter of last year. Roll production fell 22.8 percent year-on-year to 3.409 million tonnes in Q1 and pig iron was down 5.7 percent to 2.578 million tonnes.
