MMC Norilsk Nickel and a copper-aluminum company from Shandong, China, have agreed to explore the possibility of forming a joint venture to produce copper tubes and copper-nickel alloys, Vladimir Strzhalkovsky, Norilsk Nickel's general director, told reporters in Shanghai. Norilsk Nickel has also reached agreement to form a joint venture to produce platinum and palladium catalysts with either a noble metals institute from Yunnan province in the country's south or with the country's Northwest Nonferrous Metals Institute, which already produces catalysts.
