PETER HAMBRO PLANS TO RAISE GBP55 MLN WITH SHARE PLACEMENT

Peter Hambro Mining Plc (PHM) has announced a proposed share placement to raise approximately GBP55 million. The gold miner said in a statement that the placement would raise capital for PHM or, if the company merges with Aricom plc, which has iron ore and ilmenite assets in Russia's Far East, for the merged company. PHM said at the beginning of January that it was in preliminary talks with Aricom about a merger to be effected by a share swap. PHM said in its latest press release that the discussions are at an advanced stage but that agreement had not yet been reached on the exchange ratio for the merger and certain other terms and there can therefore be no certainty that the merger will proceed.
