BOGATYR UPS COAL SHIPMENTS 20.8 PERCENT IN 2008

The Bogatyr joint venture, formed by Russia's United Company RUSAL and Kazakhstan's SamrukKazyna holding increased coal shipments by 20.8 percent in 2008. A total of 46.2 million tonnes of coal were shipped to consumers in 2008, a year-on-year increase of 8 million tonnes. According to a company statement, 24 million tonnes of coal were shipped to consumers in Kazakhstan, while 22.2 million tonnes were dispatched to Russia, an increase of 27.4 percent from 2007.
