EX-ATOMIC ENERGY MINISTER ADAMOV GETS 5.5 YEARS IN JAIL

Former Atomic Energy Minister Yevgeny Adamov has been sentenced to five years and six months in prison by Moscow's Zamosk-voretsky Court. The court on Tuesday found Adamov guilty of embezzlement and abuse of office. The verdict took two days to read out. Adamov was convicted on February 21 of what his sentence describes as "activities that ran against the interests of his office, as a result of which the state lost control of the nuclear industry" and was taken into custody in the courtroom.
