Endophytic fungi of the genus Neotyphodium and their toxins: general and french context

Endophytic fungi of the genus Neotyphodium live in symbiosis with many grasses. Agronomic benefits of microorganisms (improved growth, reproduction...) to the plant depend on the presence and absence of stress factors (high temperatures, drought...). This type of association may be responsible for the production of toxic mycotoxins for grazing animals. Their synthesis depends on many intrinsic and extrinsic parameters. In France, although a high rate of endophytisme be reported on wild grass varieties, very few cases of toxicosis were identified.
