The station HT equipment maintenance policy was redefined using the R.C.M. (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) method with the aim of updating and optimising the maintenance plans as a function of new company objectives. The use and customisation of the R.C.M. method for electrical equipment is described, based on experiment feedback, failure analysis, and the search for the best maintenance task and its associated frequency. Definitions belonging to this study are included, such as the seriousness and effects of failuYe for example. The importance of the work group, guarantee of quality of the R.C.M. approach, is also described here. The method results in the composition of three maintenance plans: the reinforced plan, the nominal plan and the light plan. After having identified the company stakes, personnel security and system safety, supply quality, environment and upkeep of the patrimony, an inter-classification of 32 cut off units was carried out. These cut off units are grouped into three families, which were each subject to one of the three maintenance plans. An economic simulation concerning two units allows an estimation of savings to the order of 15 to 20% of preventive maintenance volumes resulting from the R.C.M. method.
