EVRAZ GROUP WINS AUCTION ON MEZHEGEISKOYE COAL DEPOSIT

OJSC Yuzhkuzbas-sugol, a coal producer in the Evraz Group, has won an auction for the rights to the Mezhegeiskoye coal deposit in Tuva, a representative of one of the companies that bid in the auction told Interfax. Yuzhkuzbassugol won with a bid of 16.94 billion rubles. The starting price was 350 million rubles and the bidding increment was 10 percent of the starting price. The other auction bidders were OJSC Karelsky Okatysh (Kostomuksha Mining and Beneficiation Plant, an upstream unit in the Severstal group), OJSC Vorku-taugol (another Severstal upstream unit), Elegest Mining (a subsidiary of OPK Mining, a company in the United Industrial Corporation (OPK) group), Tuva Mining Company, Vostsibugol LLC, OJSC Stoilensky Mining and Beneficiation Plant, a subsidiary of Novolipetsk Iron & Steel Company (NLMK), and Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK).
