This was our first field trip in 2009 with real summer weather. Chris had previously sent us the Indemnity Form and Risk Assessment for this site. He went through the essential points and the trainee operations manager oversaw us signing in. We learnt that the quarry output was down about 50% on last year's average and the majority of the decline had been in the last few months. The benefit for us was that there was no working on this day, so no noise from machinery and vehicles, less dust and minimal risk.
