The main requirements for telecommunications network interoperability are the maintenance of network integrity, the security of network operations, me interoperability of services and the protection of data. The various actors are led toparticipate. Concerning the network integrity, the essential requirements are to be met by the Service Providers but the Network operators are trying to make their networks self-protecting by means of "Gateway Screening" The role of manufacturers isimportant for testing. The maintenance a en -to-end performance is essential. Standards for speech have been established in order to minimise the occurrence of unacceptable end-to-end performance.
