Kazakh firm to commission 1-mln dollars gold smelter in 2010

Kazakh firm Brendt LLP is planning to put a gold smelter costing 1 million dollars into service in the Kostanai region in northern Kazakhstan in the middle of 2010. Murzabek Aktayev, the head of the entrepreneurship department of the Zhitikarinsky district akimat (administration), told Interfax-Kazakhstan that the smelter would produce 350 kg of gold by the end of the year. In the next few years the plant is expected to produce up to 700 kg a year, or a total of 5,300 kg by 2016. The company intends to reach the full design capacity in 2011.
