Ralph Hale is an icon. As Executive Vice President of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (the College) for the past 18 years, he has provided valuable continuity. During his tenure, the College has emerged as a one of the most productive and respected professional medical societies. This has been a time of unprecedented change and turmoil in health care that has presented many challenges for our Fellows. Ralph has addressed them with even-handed wisdom. It is not easy to please such a heterogeneous constituency, but he has been able to do so with remarkable tact, professionalism, and effectiveness.
