The board of the All-Russia Society for Nondestructive Testing and Engineering Diagnostics has decided to hold the 18th All-Russia Research and Engineering Conference on Nondestructive Testing and Engineering Diagnostics in 2008 in Nizhni Novgorod. The conference will be held at Nizhni Novgorod State Technical University. Nizhni Novgorod is a major center of automobile production, nuclear power engineering, shipbuilding, and other branches of industry. In 2008, Nizhni Novgorod will be 787 years old. Nizhni Novgorod State Technical University (NSTU) is one of Russian major universities and the largest educational and research center in the Volga region. The university was established as the Emperor Nicholas II Polytechnic Institute (Warsaw, Poland) in June 1898. The university's departments actively carry out scientific research that is highly regarded by the Russian scientific community. The penetrant method (leak detection) is the nondestructive testing method that has been developed best at NSTU.
