Copper-nickel sulfide ores are the basis of mineral raw-material resources for the production of nickel and platinum-group metals (PGMs) in Russia and abroad [1, 2]. One of the main directions in increasing the use of this ore type is the creation and mastering of low-waste technologies of concentration and combined processes meeting current environmental protection requirements. In the nickel-cobalt subbranch of industry the role in solving this problem is played by hydrometallurgical technologies based on autoclave processes of oxidizing leaching and hydrothermal cation exchange [3]. Metallurgical production of the Norilsk Mining Company (NGK), processing sulfide ores of Norilsk deposits, presently includes a number of obsolete high-cost technologies hampering, moreover, the effective solution of ecological problems. They include such processes as sinter roasting, electric reduction furnace smelting, conversion of nickel mattes, and nickel refining technology [4].
