CRYSTALLINE GLAZE WORKSHOPS

Crystalline glaze potters have benefited greatly by the advancement in computer technology and preset firing programs. Firings have become less labour-intensive and more accurate, encouraging more experiment. Consequently, there has been much development in this area of late. Recently, crystalline glaze potters from the United States, Canada and Europe met to explore this evolving art and technology. In September 2005, Jesse Hull organised LatticeStructures, a two-day conference and exhibition (at Red Star Studios) for crystalline glazers in Kansas City, Missouri. The gathering generated such enthusiasm that a further conference was planned. The second gathering was a five-day workshop, May 2-7, 2006, at the studio of Kris Friedrich in Palm Springs, California.
