IMPROVING THE OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF COMPOUND TRANSPORT ICEs WITH EXHAUST BACKPRESSURE

We describe the field of application, the operational features, and the problems in using the compound internal combustion engines (ICEs) with exhaust backpressure. We present the experimental data on the influence of increased exhaust resistance on the effectiveness indices of these engines. We analyze the ways to improve the powerplants with high exhaust backpressure, specifically the compound ICEs with a power turbine - for which we propose a method for further improvement of their operational characteristics.
