Honour for veteran rubber researcher

The International Rubber Research & Development Board (IRRDB) at its Annual International Rubber Conference 2012. held recently in Kovalam, India, has duly honoured Prof. Chen Qiubo, the veteran Chinese rubber researcher, by bestowing on him its prestigious 2012 B C Sekhar Award for Research Excellence. Prof. Chen who retired as the Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS) in Hainan, has served China's natural rubber industry in various capacities for over 40 years. An accomplished academician, he obtained his degree in English Language & Literature from the South China National University in 197(5, his MSc. in Agricultural Environment & Development from the University of East Anglia, the UK, in 199:3 and his Ph.D. in Silviculture from Nanjing Forestry University in 2002. What is more, he holds a dozen of training diplomas from reputed universities and academic institutions in the US, Australia, the Netherlands and Malaysia.
