Greens and the Al Gore Syndrome - Why We Can't Take Them Seriously

Every few weeks or so I get an email from the Sierra Club exhorting me to stem the rising tide of extinction against some living thing. As the deadline for donations looms, the calls for my participation (money) become more urgent. My callous disregard does not go unrewarded though. Soon another campaign is mounted, and the process begins again. Don't misunderstand me. I'm all for the preservation of endangered species, whether they be flora or fauna. What I object to is the single-mindedness of the whole exercise, the presumption that they are right, and that any debate on the issue at hand, or attempt to establish dialogue, is at best wrong-headed, at worst an obscenity.
