The new packaging law - not quite the gift we were wanting? While this issue of the magazine was at press, the German cabinet no doubt took its decision on the draft legislation. This puts the focus on recovery and recycling rates. But not only Berlin is tightening the thumbscrews. Brus- sels is also adopting a closed-loop-economy package with an action plan that will affect us directly in 2017. This stipulates which materials are not permitted to end up in the garbage or in the environment, takes in packaging, and extends right through to the question as to how products can be taken back and recycled.
