Weld seams are unavoidable in complex parts and often represent optical and mechanical flaws in injection moldings - particularly if they are fiber-reinforced. Current studies show that evacuating the mold cavity with venturi nozzles before injection molding can eliminate the weld seam weakness that occurs in thermoset injection molding.
