Organic electronics,also known as polymer electronics,is a relatively young,highly innovative area that offers a truge market potential for all in-dustries along the production chain.The foundations of polymer electronics were laid in the 1970s by pioneers such as Heeger,MacDiarmid and Shirakawa,whose discovery of electrical conductiv-ity in doped polyacetylene redefmed the concept of"electronics".For this work,they were awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2000.
