LEXUS LFA: Toyota's first-over super car looms large

Throughout history, it's not as if Toyota's portfolio has been completely devoid of exciting cars. The 2000GT of the late '60s was a highly desirable Japanese answer to the Jaguar E-Type. The last-iteration twin-turbo Supra was a muscle-packed bouncer from the Far East sent to rough up the Corvette of its day. More recently, the 416-bhp Lexus IS F kicked a little sand in the BMW M3's face. But never has Toyota (and by association, its upmarket Lexus division) possessed clangers large enough to go up against legendary supercars from Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche.
