VALLELUNGA, ITALY-MASERATI, WITH its rich bloodline of winning race cars, has developed the already sporty Gran-Turismo S into full racing trim, giving this new model the MC GT4 name. The MC is for Maserati Corse, the factory's racing division, while the GT4 designates its compliance with FIA GT4 European cup regulations. Designed for the gentleman driver, this race-ready machine is due to reach teams for the 2010 season. With competition from the likes of Aston Martin's Vantage GT4, BMW's M3 and the Corvette C6, Maserati engineered the GranTurismo S platform to be lighter and stiffer for the track. As the newest race Maserati since the MC12, the MC GT4 made its competition debut at Spa in the final round of the 2009 GT4 championship, where the Italian-based AF Corse team finished an impressive 2nd in the first of two races.
