Quantum dot/carbon nanotube (QD/CNT) structures have recently attracted an ever increasing interest particularly for their potential applications in optoelectronic devices. The master idea behind using such nanocom-posites lies in taking advantage of the combination of the interesting properties of both CNTs and QDs. Their integration with conjugated polymers has been shown to substantially enhance the photovoltaic properties of polymeric solar cells. In this review, we present the different synthesis approaches of such nanocomposite materials, their structural and chemical characterizations as well as their photophysical properties. Finally, the application of such QD/CNT nanostructures in photovoltaics is discussed.
