Frightening hemoptysis in an otherwise healthy housewife.

Case Report A 40-year-old nonsmoker housewife presented with hemoptysis for 20 days. Hemorrhage was about 200 ml three times. She noted that there were some small pieces with hemoptysis on occasion. She had no history of fever, sputum production, dyspnea or chest pain. She did not mention any oral or genital aphthous lesion. She had been treated for bronchial asthma with budesonide dry pow- der inhaler twice daily and salbutamol inhaler for 5 years. Her sister had pulmonary tuberculosis 5 years ago and was treated with multidrug therapy. All physical findings were normal except for finger-clubbing and rare rhonchi on oscultation of chest. Her full blood count, sedimentation rate and blood biochemistry were normal. There was no obstructive pattern on her flow-volume curve, and her FEV_1, FVC and PEF parameters were all in normal range.
